What a Panchang Is
A Panchang is the Hindu almanac for a single day. Its name means "five limbs", and those five measures of the Sun and Moon (tithi, vaar, nakshatra, yoga and karana) are what families, priests and astrologers check before a fast, a festival, a journey or a new beginning.
The free Panchang calculators on GyaaniJyotish work it out for the city and date you choose, with no sign-in. Each one opens the same daily reading but brings a different part of it to the front, so you can go straight to the timing you need.

Apart from Numerology, which asks for a name, every calculator follows the same steps:
- Allow location access if you want the page to start from where you are. Otherwise it starts from New Delhi.
- Search for your city and choose it from the suggestions.
- Pick a date from the calendar and select Get Panchang.
The result opens with the city, its time zone, the date, sunrise, sunset, the Moon's sign and the lunar month. Below that come the five limbs, the Auspicious timings, the Inauspicious timings, and the full Choghadiya and Hora tables for day and night.
Why a Panchang Is Local
Most Panchang timings are measured from local sunrise and sunset, which change with latitude, longitude and season. Rahu Kaal in Chennai and in Delhi on the same date can be many minutes apart, and a printed calendar made for one city can mislead you in another. That is why these calculators ask for a city rather than a state or country.
